📘 How to Use Storydoer

Storydoer is a gamified productivity app designed to help you build habits, achieve goals, and transform your life — one task at a time. Whether you’re trying to lose weight, develop discipline, or simply bring more structure and motivation into your daily routine, Storydoer turns your to-do list into a leveling-up journey.

You create tasks, assign them points based on difficulty, and earn rewards as you complete them. Your progress is tracked, celebrated, and always visible — because every story deserves a hero, and in this one, it’s you.

Your first steps in the app:
• Create an account using Google, Apple, or your email address.
• Log in once — the app remembers you and uses Face ID for quick access (if enabled).
• To get started, tap on “Menu” — that’s where the Task Collection lives. It’s full of ready-to-use habits and space to create your own.
• Once you add tasks, you’ll see them on your Home screen, ready to complete.

You can create different types of tasks depending on your goals and routine:
• Daily Tasks: Repeat every day (e.g., “Drink 2L of water”).
• Weekly Tasks: Repeat on selected weekdays (e.g., “Run on Mon/Wed/Fri”).
• Monthly Tasks: Repeat on certain dates or a number of times per month (e.g., “Attend 3 yoga classes”).
• One-time Tasks: Tasks that appear only once.
• Negative Tasks: Set up actions you want to avoid (e.g., smoking, sugar). Each time you log it, you lose points.
• Percentage-based Tasks: Tasks that vary in intensity. You earn points based on how much you complete (e.g., 10,000 steps = 10 points; 8,000 steps = 8 points).
When creating a task, you decide how many points it’s worth — the harder the task, the bigger the reward.

You can also:
• Add tasks to custom categories
• Assign an emoji icon to each task for easier recognition and a touch of fun
• Import data from the Apple Health app💖

Welcome to the Tasks tab — yourWelcome to the Tasks tab — your main hub.

Here you’ll see your active quests in two views:
• To Do – tasks due today
• All – your entire list of active tasks

Use the toggle at the top to switch between them anytime.

Each task appears as a compact task card displaying key information at a glance:
Task name and icon
Current streak🔥 – shows how many consecutive times you’ve completed this task
Category label
Notification indicator
Schedule
Points tracker – shows how many points you’ve earned vs. the maximum for this task (e.g. 10/25)
Progress input (for percentage-based tasks) – lets you manually record completion level, such as steps walked, pages read or water consumed

Every task can be swiped to perform a quick action — no buttons, no extra taps. Just one swipe, one result.

Swipe right
• If the task hasn’t been completed yet:
→ A green square with a checkmark appears: Mark as Done
→ The task is marked complete, you earn points, and it moves from the To Do list to the All section of your Active Task List.
• If the task has already been completed:
→ A blue square with a toilet icon appears: Mark as Undone
→ The task reverts to incomplete, is returned to your To Do list, and any earned points are removed.
• For percentage-based tasks:
→ Both options appear:
Mark as Done: confirms 100% completion and awards full points
Mark as Undone: resets progress to 0% and removes all points
Note: Tasks can only be marked complete if they’re scheduled for today — but you can always change a task’s schedule (see below).

Swipe left
→ A red square appears: Archive from Active List (confirmation required)
→ After the confirmation, the task is archived. All progress is preserved and still visible in Reports.

At the top, you’ll see a Progress Bar — it fills up as you earn points and gets you closer to your next level. When you level up, you’ll get a small celebration!

To create or manage tasks:
• Tap the Menu icon (middle of bottom navigation)
• Browse pre-built tasks organized by category
You can:
Tap “Add” to move a saved task from the collection to your Active Task List.
Tap Archive to remove a task from the Active Task List back to the Menu.
Tap Task Name to edit a task. Note: some properties may be locked for editing (a hint is displayed when tapped).
Swipe left to delete a task. You can only delete tasks that have no tracking history (i.e., those that were never activated).

When you tap Add Custom Task, you’ll build your task step by step, starting from the top:
1. Choose an icon – Pick any emoji to visually represent your task. Fun, clear, and memorable!
2. Select a category – Organize your task by adding it to an existing category, or create a brand-new one.
3. Name your task – Keep it short and clear. This is what you’ll see on your home screen.
4 Assign a point value – Decide how many points this task is worth when completed (or lost, if it’s negative).
• Free users: up to 25 points
• Pro users: up to 50 points
5. Choose task type – Is this something positive (you want to do) or negative (you want to avoid)?
• Positive = earn points
• Negative = lose points
6. Make it a percentage-based task (optional) – If the task can be partially completed (like walking steps), enable this option to earn points based on how much you do.
When this option is selected, you’ll need to define a target value — the amount that counts as 100% completion. This lets the app calculate your progress and award partial points accordingly.
7. Set the frequency – Decide when the task should appear:
• Daily
• Weekly (choose specific days)
• Monthly by count (e.g. 5 times per month)
• Monthly by custom days (e.g. 1st, 15th, 30th or the last day of the month)
• One-time
8. Notification (optional) – You can enable a notification for each task individually. If turned on, your phone will send a reminder at the scheduled time, but only on days when the task is active and hasn’t been completed by the time of notification yet.
9. Activate now or later – Decide if the task should become active right away, or stay saved for later use.

Once you’re done, hit Save — the task will show up in your Menu, and if you choose to activate it right away, it’ll also be ready to track in your Active Task List.

Storydoer doesn’t just help you check things off — it helps you see your progress over time in a clear, motivating way.

See how far you’ve come! Tap the Reports tab (bottom right) to explore your journey and discover patterns in your progress.

There are two tabs:
• Active Tasks – habits and goals you’re currently working on
• Archived Tasks – completed habits that are no longer active, but still part of your story

Tap any task to open its Calendar View:
• For regular tasks, each day is marked as either:
→ 100% – task completed
→ 0% – task missed
• For percentage-based tasks, the calendar shows how much of the goal was completed each day (e.g., 20%, 70%, 100%, 146%)

This visual history helps you reflect on your consistency and momentum over time.

Consistency is king — and Storydoer celebrates it.

Every time you complete a task on time, your streak increases. You’ll see a 🔥 icon with a number next to each active task — that’s your current streak count.

And the best part? Streak bonuses!

When you keep showing up, you earn extra points on top of your regular reward:
• For example, a 5-streak might earn you +5% bonus points
• A 50-streak might get you +50%

The longer you keep it up, the more rewarding it becomes. Bonuses are awarded the day after the task is completed.

Break the streak? The count resets — but your history remains in reports.

A streak is the number of times you’ve completed a task in a row, according to its schedule — whether it’s daily, weekly, or custom.

Missed a task but had a good reason? No problem — you can preserve your streak by purchasing a missed task with a coin.

How it works:
If you skipped a task on a scheduled day but want to keep your streak intact, you can go to Reports, tap on the missed day, and use 1 coin to mark the task as “purchased.”
What you’ll see:
Purchased tasks appear in the calendar marked in orange, to distinguish them from fully completed tasks.
Limits:
You can only purchase tasks for past scheduled dates — not for today or the future. You can purchase as many missed tasks as you like (as long as you have coins). No points are awarded for the missed task.

As a Pro user, you can update past days for free — no coins required.

• For example, if you actually completed a task yesterday but forgot to mark it, simply:
→ Go to Reports
→ Tap the task → tap the missed day
→ Choose Mark as Done or, if it’s a percentage-based task, enter the actual value you completed
• This will retroactively update your calendar and your streak — just as if you’d done it on time
Pro users can use this feature for yesterday at no extra cost.

Storydoer turns your everyday efforts into a long-term adventure.

Every completed task adds points to your progress bar, displayed at the top of your Home screen.

When you fill the bar, you level up — and move one step closer to your next personal milestone. • Each new level takes a little more effort than the last • There are hundreds of levels — currently up to Level 100 • A simple celebration animation marks the moment (and yes, we plan to make this even more magical!)

We’re working on adding fun, meaningful rewards in future updates:
• Unlockable themes and color palettes
• Special emojis or visual effects for high levels
• Bonus content, motivational messages, or collectible badges
Right now, leveling up is all about recognizing your own growth — but stay tuned. There’s more coming your way.

Storydoer is designed to grow with you — and feel like it belongs to you.

Tap your profile icon in the top right corner of the screen to:
• Upload a custom avatar (from your device gallery)
• Set your name
• Choose color theme and your preferred notification time in the app settings. If enabled, the app will send you a daily reminder at that time.
• Browse the gallery of your badges for levels achieved (tap on a badge opens it in full size).
• View your leveling history (weekly, monthly, and all-time progress)
• Access this Help Guide
• Explore any Pro features (if available)

The app supports Light and Dark themes — they follow your device’s system settings by default, but you can also choose your preferred theme manually in the profile settings.

We’re working on more customization options, including color palettes — stay tuned!

Here are a few ways to get the most out of Storydoer:
• ✅ Start small – Choose just a few tasks to begin with. Focus on consistency, not perfection.
• 📈 Use streaks – Even short streaks can boost motivation. Don’t break the chain!
• 🧠 Make tasks measurable – “Do 10 pushups” is better than “Work out”
• 🧪 Experiment – Adjust points, try percentage-based goals, play with structure
• 🎉 Celebrate your wins – Leveling up is a moment worth pausing for. You did that.

Your upgrade helps us build cool new features faster 💛

A: These tasks are initially located in the “Apple Health” category. Data from the Health app is automatically downloaded for the current day. However, if you manually change a task completion value for today, automatic data downloading for today stops.

When you open the app, data for missed dates will also be downloaded. Data for yesterday might also be corrected if no manual data entry was made yesterday.

A: If you deleted it from the Tasks tab on the Home screen (Active Tasks List), don’t worry — the task itself remains in the Menu tab, and its completion history stays in Reports.

However, if you deleted a task from the Menu tab — and it wasn’t an active task — it’s gone permanently (for now).

A: You’ll need to log in once to get started. If you use Face ID or biometrics, it will keep you signed in afterward.
If you sign up using an email address, you’ll need to verify it — this is required in case you ever need to reset your password. A verification email will be sent automatically. You can resend it from your profile by tapping Resend Verification Email.

A: Some extra features are available in the Pro version — you can find all the details in your Profile screen.

Pro features include:
More active tasks — Free version: up to 5 active tasks, Pro version: unlimited.
Higher task point values — Free version: up to 25 points per task, Pro version: up to 50 points.
• and even more

A: Yes! Your tasks, progress, achievements, profile, and purchases are automatically saved and synced to the cloud — especially during major updates — so nothing is lost when the app evolves.

You can also use Storydoer on multiple devices under the same account, and your data will stay seamlessly in sync across all of them.

A: No, your data is not encrypted. However, it is only accessible through your personal account and cannot be viewed by others.
